When: | 10 Feb 08 | Where: | Lake Mead | What: | Arizona Hot Springs | Distance: | 5.5 mi | Elevation Gain: | | The Plan: | fiogf49gjkf0d General Info:
This hike is about 5.5 miles and can be done either as a loop or up and back. While this hike is not too technical it does involve a bit of climbing (to include a 20' ladder) and if hiked as a loop the climb out of the wash will provide for a cardio workout. The trail will take us down a narrow White Rock Canyon to the Colorado River and than turn back up into Hot Springs Canyon.
Once at the hot springs you have the option of returning the direction we came or continuing through the hot springs. If continuing through the hot springs the water is typically about waist high and between 85-120 degrees. While pants or shorts will dry after a bit, you might want to bring a pair of sandals or be willing to cross through barefoot.
For those looking to carpool or caravan plan on being at Eaglecloud no later than 0930. For everyone else we will meet you at the Trailhead at 1015.
Trailhead:
Take 93/95 to Boulder City and cross the dam. The trailhead is on a gravel road just past a bridge 3.9 miles beyond the "Welcome to Arizona" sign at the dam. Turn right and follow the gravel road 50 yards to the parking area.
Current forecast is for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the high sixties. | | Click here for our pictures and comments. Warning: Page may be slow to load due to images. |
