When: | 27 Mar 10 | Where: | Red Rock | What: | La Madre Springs and Cabin | Distance: | 5 mi loop | Elevation Gain: | 1400 ft | The Plan: | General Info:
While this is a safe and fun five mile hike it can be a moderately difficult. The first part of the trail leads up to an old dam than continues on to the springs and a miners cabin. The original cabin is thought to have been built in the 1920s, but it was later torn down by vandals. The stone cabin has since been rebuilt.
Currently we are expecting clear skies with temperatures in the low sixties.
Staging/Trailhead:
Take Charleston out to the Red Rock National Conservation Area. We will meet up in the visitor centers parking lot at 0945. From there we will carpool/caravan with the hope of setting off from the trailhead at 1000. To get to the trailhead drive seven and a half miles around the Scenic Loop Road, take a right turn on Willow Springs Road and continue for another half mile.
If you have any questions contact me.
Hope to see you out there.
