When: | 22 Nov 09 | Where: | Lake Mead | What: | Hike - Dry Falls | Distance: | 5.5 mi | Elevation Gain: | 1700 ft | The Plan: | fiogf49gjkf0d This is a fun albeit very challenging hike. While all of The Lost Hikers survived the last attempt on this, it is safe to say we were all exhausted in the end and made it back on fumes.
General Info:
This trail is 5.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1700 feet. This hike will involve climbing numerous dry falls in route to the peak. Due to the difficulty of following this trail we will be using GPS. Currently we will have at least two on hand and this time we will actually follow them. Weather is currently expected to be in the mid sixties with partly cloudy skies.
We will meet at the trailhead around 0845 with the goal of departing by 0900.
Trailhead:
Drive into Boulder City and make a left at the second stop light onto south 93 heading towards Hoover Dam. Drive about 3.2 miles and turn left onto an easily missed paved road. If you pass the Visitor Center, you have gone too far. Drive a tenth of a mile and turn left onto a gravel road just before the pumping station. In .2 miles the road comes to a three-way divide, take road #74 to the right. Drive three-tenths of a mile and park near the huge water tank.
This hike offers great views of Lake Mead. | | Click here for our pictures and comments. Warning: Page may be slow to load due to images. |
