Gain: | | | The Plan: | This will be a new route to the Bowl of fire for most of The Lost Hikers. Starting from mile marker 18 rather than 16.
General Info:
This should be a fairly easy 2.5 to 3+ mile hike (depending on how much exploring is done). From the trailhead we will descend into Calville wash. The only obstacle of note is a four foot dry waterfall. That said there is plenty of climbing to be done within the Bowl of Fire for those that desire.
Currently we are expecting mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid to low seventies.
Due to the distance and park fee I encourage you to car pool if possible.
Staging/Trailhead:
Drive into the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Make your way north along the Scenic Drive until shortly after you pass mile marker 18 (0.2mi). The pullout on the left side of the road is the Northshore Scenic Drive trailhead. This is about seven miles beyond the Calville Bay turn off.
